What language did Atlantis actually speak?

For more than 2,000 years, people have searched for the lost city of Atlantis. But there is a mystery hiding underneath the bigger question: if Atlantis was real, what language did its people speak?

In this video, we travel from Plato's ancient Athens to modern artificial intelligence to investigate the impossible question of the Atlantean language.

Plato described Atlantis in his dialogues Timaeus and Critias—but we have no confirmed Atlantean inscriptions, tablets, alphabet, dictionary, or surviving words. Everything we know about Atlantis comes through Plato's Greek account.

So what happened when AI was asked to determine what language the Atlanteans might have spoken?

The answer is fascinating—but not because AI actually decoded Atlantis.

Instead, the AI exposes the enormous gap between historical evidence, linguistic reconstruction, and speculation. We explore what Plato really said, the mystery of Atlantis, the Minoans and Santorini, the Rosetta Stone, Linear B, the still-undeciphered Linear A, and what modern AI can genuinely do with ancient languages.

Most importantly, we ask a bigger question:

Can AI recover a language when no written evidence of that language has survived?

And what happens when an AI gives us a beautiful, detailed answer to a question that may have no provable answer?

This is the story of Atlantis, lost languages, ancient history, linguistics, and the strange new power of artificial intelligence.

WATCH UNTIL THE END for the final twist: the real mystery may not be where Atlantis sank—but what its story tells us about the languages and voices humanity has lost forever.
